The Leonard Firm is thrilled to announce that Founding Shareholder, Katie K. Leonard, has been admitted to fellowship in the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). Members of this national organization are recognized as preeminent family law practitioners with the highest levels of knowledge, skill and integrity. To be represented by a Fellow in the AAML is an honor, as they are recognized as some of the leading practitioners in the field of family law. Leonard joins just 28 other Fellows in the State of Georgia who are current members.
Fellows endure a rigorous selection process that consists of an expansive application, peer reviews, evaluations by numerous members of the judiciary, and must pass an intensive board examination covering topics such as bankruptcy, executive compensation packages, retirement and social security plans, business valuations, child custody evaluations, national and international jurisdictional codes, and trial evidence. To be a candidate for membership, an attorney must have been admitted to the Bar for a minimum of ten (10 years), must dedicate at least seventy-five percent (75%) of her practice to family law, must have a concentration and working ability to handle complex domestic relations actions, must have demonstrated substantial involvement and leadership within State and local Bar organizations, must have completed at least twelve (12) hours of family law-related continuing legal education for the five (5) years preceding the application, and must adhere to the Bounds of Advocacy as promulgated by the AAML.
